Question: In hp 2, Harry got stabbed with a basilisk fang, how come that didn't destroy the horcrux!?
also, if apparently the killing curse destroyed the horcrux in the last book then could the killing curse be used on the other horcruxes!?

How come the gryffindor sword and the basilisk fangs were the only way to destroy the horcruxes!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your first question: The horcrux is destroyed only if Harry dies too!. In the 7th book Hermione clearly explains that to Ron!. The bit of soul is totally dependent on the Horcrux object!. Since Fawkes got to Harry and saved his life, the bit of Voldermort's soul in him recovered too!.

The killing curse cannot work on any other horcrux but on Harry!. Harry and Voldermort shared a magical blood bond!. Harry would not die by Voldermort's hand so long as there was another person with the same blood as in his veins, and they both shared a home!. Voldermort had Harry's blood in his veins and they both considered Hogwarts as their home!. So obviously, Voldermort cannot ever, ever kill Harry himself!. So if Voldermort tries to kill Harry, he will just be destroying the only other thing in Harry that can be destroyed: the bit of Voldermort's soul !. So the Killing Curse cannot be used to destroy any other horcrux!. More simply, it can only be used on living things, right!? The other Horcruxes were just objects!.

Basilisk fang contains a poison that is so deadly that it bring instant death and it has only one antidote, phoenix tears, and that too is extremely rare!. The basilisk poison is one of the few things that are destructive enough to destroy a horcrux!. The sword was goblin made!. In the 7th book we hear that goblin made objects (swords, crowns anything) repel dirt, but it imbibes or absorbs anything that makes it more stronger and deadlier!. In the 2nd book, when Harry killed the Basilisk with the sword, it imbibed the basilisk poison and is now as poisonous as a basilisk fang!.

Hpoe that answers your questions!. It was nice to know that people haven't totally forgot Harry Potter!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The basilisk fang does not touch the part of Volemorts soul!. When Voldemort kills harry in the last book, he kills the soul!. The fang in the second book only stabs his body!.

I see where you might think this!. I had to think about the question before i answered it!. And also that was the second book!. J!.K!. Rowling would have had to introudce horcruxes in the first or second book!. I'm not sure she even had the horcrux idea until a couple books later!.

Hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com

basilisk venom is the most powerful substance in the whole magical world and apparently the sword of griffindor was used to stab the snake in "chamber of secrets" so it has venom in itWww@QuestionHome@Com
