Question: How much would an author make!?
I love to write stories, and it's one of my options right now for my career in the future!. I'm just worried about the salary!. I'd have to make a living, you know!. But anyways, how much would a writer make!? Thanks in advance! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

They make nothing unless they publish!.
The chances of publishing are very slim, and even if you do get published, if your book bombs, or only does minimally well, you won't get enough money to buy a months worth of groceries!.

If you want to be a writer, have another source of income!. Authors don't do it for the money, because, realistically, there is a 90% chance of not making any money at all, even if you sell some books!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Unless you are hired by a magazine or newspaper in some capacity, you will not be paid a salary as a writer/author!. What you can make will depend upon how good and/or how fortunate you are!. Prolific, best selling authors (think J!. K!. Rowling, Danielle Steele, Dan Brown) make millions, but they are exceptions!. The majority of aspiring writers will reap nothing but rejections, although some may make a living income from writing without ever becoming famous!. Obviously, you can not make your career decision based upon the potential for affluence implicit in becoming a writer since there is no way to determine in advance what your abilities and appeal may prove to be!. If you love to write, consider it as an avocation, taking writing courses while majoring in journalism, for example, or some other subject which attracts you and offers a more definitive possibility for a lucrative future!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It really depends on the publisher!. How much they'll pay for your story!. My idea, and the one i plan on going through with when i get to college, is to double major in creative writing and secondary education (or any field of education you prefer)!. Teaching will pay the bills and still leave plenty of time (summer, winter, and spring breaks, plus obscure holidays) to write and publish!.

Good luck!

It depends on how successful their books are!. If a lot of people like it, then the demand for the book will increase, and the writer will make more money!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
