What is your favorite and why!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
i have one favorite sci-fi series just because its so hilarious and not what you'd expect from a typical sci-fi book (which is also why i like it)!. its the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy series by douglas adams!. i think this is a must-read for anyone who likes either comedy, sci-fi, or both!.

but besides, that i like reading different sci-fi authors!. i think my favorite so far is h!. g!. wells, mainly because of war of the worlds and (although it creeped me out) the island of dr!. moreau!. he comes up with very interesting plots in his sci-fi novels!.

oh yeah, by the way, american gods isn't sci-fi, it's fantasy!.!.!.i love it too, but still >_<Www@QuestionHome@Com

Science Fiction!.!.!.

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert A!. Heinlein!.

The book is set in the year 2075 on the Lunar Colonies, a collection of underground colonies scattered across the Moon!. Most Loonies, as the Lunar colonists are known, are people or the descendants of people involuntarily transported to the Moon either for criminal or political reasons!. Due to the low surface gravity of the Moon, anyone (including transportees from Earth) who stays longer than a few months undergoes (according to one of the characters) "irreversible physiological changes and can never again live in comfort and health in a gravitational field six times greater than that to which their bodies have become adjusted!."

(Quoted from the web site!.)

Now!.!.!. I think it's the finest example of Heinlein's ability to write timeless science fiction!. This book was written in 1966 and it still stands as one of his best decades after it was released and after his death!.

The main Foundation trilogy (there are other books linked to this saga, but the main 3 are the best) by Isaac Asimov!.

In order: Foundation, Foundation and Empire, Second Foundation!. They must be read in order as well!. Protagonists and stories change, but the "main story" links them together and it is continued throughout all 3 books!.

They are various stories and all are connected with the main topic!. I don't want to spoil anything at all, but since you want a why (and that makes perfect sense) I say this trilogy was very interesting and entertaining to read because even though it was sci-fi it actually made perfect sense!. It follows "a plan" which is supossed to guide the human civilization 30,000 years from now into its future through the right path and to stop it from taking a "wrong" path that will lead to a new Dark Ages, chaos, and the lost of technological advances made by humankind in the galaxy till that point due to that!. The goal of "the foundation" is to make sure that that right path is followed throughout history!. It really is way much more complicated than that, and it gets really interesting, but this gives you an idea and doesn't spoil anything crucial, so I'll leave it at that!.

The 3rd book of the trilogy was probably the only book that has put me at the "edge of my seat" specially when it was reaching 1/2 the book!.!.!.!.!.!.!. it made me feel it was worth reading the first 2 JUST to reach that part in the 3rd book and when you feel that you know that that book is davvn good!.

So my favorite sci-fi novel is Second Foundation, but you have to read the whole trilogy because that book is the 3rd one!. Trust me if you want to read thought-provoking sci-fi stuff then that trilogy is for you!. And once again, it is sci-fi, but what makes it great is that it makes perfect sense!. It is "credible" sci-fi, not stuff like super heroes or aliens, but stuff that makes sense and could be true!.

If you are asking this question and haven't read that trilogy, then I am sure you will like it!. I wasn't even interested in reading when I read that lol!.!.!.!.!. but it certainly made me think twice about it!. also, I can't help but wonder why they haven't done a TV series or even movies of these books already!.

also, if after reading that you are still interested in the topic (high change for this) the author wrote other novels, a prequel to the 1st book (Prelude to Foundation) and 2 to follow after the trilogy (Limits of Foundation, Foundation and Earth)!.!.!.!.!.!. however, the trilogy is the best, and in particular Second Foundation was superb and the best one out of the whole saga, although they are all good!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
