Truth be told, there are many different ways to start writing!.

Outlines are great!. However, I would really get to know your characters!. Don't drag your characters along a plot without understanding how they work!. So sometimes, its best just to throw characters into situations and see how they react!. take character virtues as in!.!.!.

Sam is a hypochondriac that enjoys taking drugs
strengths for Sam is he is eccentric and thought provoking
weakness for Sam is he is melodramatic and well a hypochondriac

now take

Michelle a yoga instructor with a desire to fix people

strengths she is ambitious and happy
weakness is she tends to be stubborn/fixed in her ways

They get trapped in an elevator, what do they do, how to they respond to each other!.

What I did, and this was an example, was list my characters strengths/weaknesses and threw them into a situation!. It can be anything like saving a puppy in a burning house or whatever!. The key is to just start writing NOW!.

If you want to free write to get your juices flowing!. I highly recommend looking into the exercise of stream of conscious writing (which is basically writing without stopping even if you have nothing to write about *i!.e!. I'm stuck i'm still writing but whatever-you get the idea*)

If you are working on descriptions and you are having writers block sometimes I write a haiku of the description of the place I am trying to describe!. Sometimes, less is more and it fuels me to go where I want to go into the description of the ________!.

But don't focus so much on the plot, as knowing your characters!.

Write when you are focused, where you are stimulated, when you are inspired (or set a time every night and just write someting on a page), if music helps (i listen to music without words) by all means turn it on, if you are standing in line at a supermart carry a small notebook with you to jot a few ideas on paper!. People watching can fuel creative fires by wondering what is behind the person you are watching!. How their day is going and what not!. I personally think it matters little what tense you write in whether it be 3rd person or first!.

The key to writing is just to write and keep writing!.

Hoped this helped a little!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

There's no right answer to all the questions you're asking!. The perspective you choose depends on the story you want to tell!. Choose a different main character, and your story will change completely!. To begin, you might have to experiment around, switching between first-person and third to see what sounds right, trying different characters, starting your story in different places!. There's no right answer because every story is different!. Plus, after the first draft, you might change the beginning completely!.
Some writers outline!. I know the ending before I start, so I'll have some direction, and then outline each chapter as I go!. I know others who use index cards to write plot points, and some who just write the first draft as fast as they can to get something down so they can revise it!.
The environment is different for everyone, too: at the computer, outside with a laptop, sitting in a car with a notebook, secluded, in a crowded cafe!. I've heard it all!.
Read your favorite books and pick them apart!. Ask yourself why you like some books and not others!. And most importantly, write all the time so you can get practice and find your own voice!. Oh, and have fun!.

I wish you the best!. :)

Hi :)

Firstly, you have to really be invested in your ideas and your characters - no matter the problems you encounter, your book will be everything you want it to be if you persevere long enough!. It took me one and a half years to finish my first novel (which I've since self-published!. Go me!) and about two years for my second, which I've not yet finished!. So you've got to be in for the long haul, basically!.

Some writers don't like to create outlines (or plot-points, as I call them) for their novels!. I guess that's more of a personal choice, but I know that I'd flounder and die without mine, lol!. It just depends on the way in which you work best!. I, however, would certainly recommend keeping plenty of notes!.

Next, you really do need an environment for writing in which you feel comfortable!.!.!. preferably somewhere quiet, etc!. I always listen to music, because I find it very inspirational and it blocks out all the distracting sounds of the outside world!. But really, whatever works best for you!.

Anyway, I hope that was at least a bit helpful!. Good luck with your book! xxxWww@QuestionHome@Com

Outlines are your best hope of writing a good book!. Without one you will tend to stray from your original idea as new ideas pop into your head!. Third person is usually the easiest way to go for a new writer but if first person feels better for you, go for it!. It really comes down to what works for you!. That also applies to environment!. I knew of one journalist who only wrote well when she was angry!. So every day her editor would do something to piss her off!. Myself, I only write well at night when I am dead tired and about to collapse from fatigue!. For most writers a quiet, secluded place is what is called for!. Begin at the beginning!. That is usually the best place to start!. However, if you have a strong outline you could really start anywhere!. J!.K!. Rowling once said that she had the final chapter of the last Harry Potter book written before she finished the first book! Whatever you do, be aware that you will be making many revisions!. Once the book is done, don't be afraid to make changes!. You may even have to start all over!. But that's the way the game is played!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Read On Writing by Stephen King!. It is all about writing books and honing such skills that you may have!. If you are the kind of person that hears the name Stephen King and cringes at his morbidity try The Elements of Style by William Strunk Jr!. and E!.B!. White!. With that said the Stephen King book is only about how he came about to write and how to use the "toolbox" that you have to write books!. He believes you should start writing and allow the characters to react themselves instead of you forcing them to do things!. You start the story and let it run its natural course through your pen!. If you are concerned with writing the book as soon as possible i would advise skipping the first section of the book and going straight to the toolbox section!. You can find the book on ebay stores for just a few bucks!.!.!.!. good luck writing!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Begin at the start!. You need a great first sentence!. Write in third person!. If you know the beginning and end, you don't necessarily need an outline!. Some authors do and others don't!. If you can keep the main points in your head, the rest gets filled in as if by magic as you write!. You'll see what I mean!. Choose a time and place to write and try for 200 words minimum each day!. Doesn't sound much!. does it!. Keep at it every single day, no exceptions!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
