Question: What are the worst classics!?
What classics did you not like or had trouble getting through!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Scarlett Letter - Hawthorne!.

Anything Dickens - I would have LOVED a Tale of Two Cities if it was like, 200 pages shorter! (and no one get to give me crap, the book was overly wordy, I enjoyed every page of War and Peace!)

Ethan Frome!. I love Warton, I never understood why she wrote this peice of crap!.

Go Down Moses by William Faulkner!. I remember reading his short story a Rose for Emily and liking it!. But his stream of consciousness was boring and difficult to get through!. Ive yet to finish it and I always like to finish a book!. I cant even start his other novels!. I despise Faulkner's novels!. I get that he is considered one of the South's greatest writers and what he was doing but I cant read it!. I cant enjoy it!. I cant continue on after that first page!. Ech!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

LOL, most of American Lit!. I swear the books' only value were as examples of what they read back then!. Boring! Hard to read! (And there's nothing wrong with my reading ability!.)

Especially boring:
The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne (though I liked a couple of his other books)
The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper!.
Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck (though I liked some of his other books)

"Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad!. This was one of my Year 11 English books, and I struggled to get through it (even though it's a relatively short book)!. I have recently acquired a copy of it, so will give it another go now that I'm older (and wiser!?!)Www@QuestionHome@Com

A tale of things past!.

Its about the size of 2 average dictionaries and just as boring!.

I read though about the first 100 pages because it is a classic and I thought it would be interesting when you really get thought it but it was truly boring!

Don't waste your time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For me, personally, anything by Ernest Hemingway and Jose Saramago!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Romeo and Juliet-- I didn't care for it much, plus I'm not a huge fan of Shakespeare!. I like Julius Caesar though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
