Question: The alchemist by paul coelho!?
im reading the book the alchemist by paulo coelho and on page 40 it says:
"I'm like everyone else- I see the world in terms of what i would like to see happen, not what actually does!."

santiago immediately experiences some bad luck in tangier!. what assumptions does he make about the first people he encounters!? why do you think he makes these assumptions!? What are the results!? would you consider santiago's behavior typical of most people!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Are you talking about when he first arrives to the city and he trusts in that one boy, but the boy steals his money away!. I think that like most people Santiago thought the man looked kind enough and helpful, so he automatically trusted him!. I'm sure most people would trust him like Santiago did, however, like him, most people would also get duped!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah, he's at the bar/cafe and a guy starts talking to him in Spanish, so he decides to hire the guy to be his guide!. Meanwhile, the bartender is watching the two of them and he doesn't look happy--and he starts yelling at Santiago in Arabic, but Santiago doesn't understand!.
Turns out the guide he hired steals all his money, and the bartender was trying to warn Santiago that he shouldn't trust the other guy!. I think this shows that people tend to trust the familiar (the guy who spoke his language) over the unfamiliar (the Arabic-speaking bartender)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
