Question: Does it ever bother you when a book!.!.!.!?
doesn't finish the story plot until you go out and buy another book to finish it!? Why or why not!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Yes it does!. I remember when Stephen King did his serial novel of The Green Mile with the next book coming about every 4 to 6 weeks!. It drove me crazy waiting for the next book!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Depends on the story to be honest!. I can think of a couple characters who end their books with a bit of a cliffhanger but the story is finished and there isn't a sequel to find out what happened!. And that drives me crazy!.

On the other hand if it's a series and I know it's a series then it doesn't bother me unless I finish the last book and there are still unanswered questions!. I think of a series as been a long story!. Each book has a completion to it but you don't get the whole story unless you read all the books!. And when I don't have the money to go buy the next book in the series I just check it out from the library!.

To correct Michelle: The Lord of The Rings was not written as a trilogy, it was written as a six part serial (much like the Green Mile)!.

What bothers me even more is books that just end, with no follow up!. The one I am really thinking of is Demon Seed by Dean Koontz!. It ends in the middle of a sentence, in the middle of a paragraph, in the middle of a page, after the word the!. I believe he was going for the effect (the "demon" machine turns off, the book ends), but it drove me crazy!. Still does and I read it probably 10 years ago!. (Get over it you say!? Really, it does not irritate me to the point of thinking about it!. I only think about it when questions like this are asked and I am reminded)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It really bugs me when this happens!. By the time the sequel or the next in the series comes out I've already read so many other books I've forgotten what the first one was about!. If I know in advance, I'll wait until they're all published!. I have so many others I can wait!. Then I buy all of them at once!. One advantage to this is that they're usually all paperbacks by this time so I save money!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I guess so, but if it's a Trilogy, like Lord of the Ring, I won't mind waiting much!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
