Question: How could I implement guns into my fantasy novel!?
I've started writing a fantasy novel!. With this book, I plan to break almost every fantasy rule in existence by not including elves, dwarves, dragons, wizard schools, dark lords etc!. Instead, I'm planning on putting guns in!. That doesn't mean that its going to have knights running around with m16s: it's only going to have pistols and rifles that have to be reloaded after only being shot once!. I want to know how I could implement them into the story, but still keep the overall feel of fantasy!. Even though there won't be magic, It'll still have monsters, and there'll still be a quest (ok, I lied earlier!. The quest is for something that supposidly has supernatural powers, but there won't be any wizards or anything like that!. Please post your opinions, suggestions, etc!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

eh, it's been done!. More than once, not every fantasy writer just rips off Tolkien!.

Instead of basing your fantasy world on an idealized medieval world, just base it on an idealized renaissance world!. If you're going to include arquebuses or muskets, then just model your story on the 15th century technology or later!. It isn't as if most fantasy novels realy correspond to the real world anyways, most will use magic as a way of having advanced technology and ideas in a medieval setting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try giving the guns a different design than our earthly creations - make them out of an odd material!. Find something other than gunpowder to set them off, or make the bullets out of a fantasy metal!. Instead of pulling a trigger with your index finger, press a button with your pinkie!. Give them heat-seeking properties!.

These are just a few thoughts!. Hope they help!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
