I'm not a good reader and I don't like a lot of stories!. I always think that the author of the book is not a good story writer every time I read!. I like to read and I always feel alone reading sometime!. Do you have to be interested to read well!? My english suck so I'm still working on my grammer here!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I actually disagree with the previous posters!. I think you can read well even if you don't like the story or author!. While enjoying the story can definitely help you focus and concentrate on the work, analysis and comprehension are learned skills that you can employ even if you don't like the story!. In school, for example, your teacher can assign you to read a work that you don't especially enjoy, but you can still relate to it, and find symbols, metaphors, and theme even though you don't like it!. When filing your taxes, you have to read and understand the instructions, even though you probably won't like to read the tax instructions!. And for work, you have to read and respond to many e-mails, memos and proposals, even though, often, they're not the most engaging pieces of writing ever!. Still, you can understand, and act on that understanding!. I do agree, however, that if you're just reading for fun, choose what you like to read, whatever that is!. It's for fun!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I personally don't have to be enjoying the story to read it; I can make myself get through anything, even if I hate it!. But that's probably because I'm so OCD that I can't leave a book unfinished!. If I start it, I have to finish it, even if I don't like it!. The only books I really read are the old fashioned classics, so I'm fairly disciplined when it comes to sticking with something, since many of those books take some work!. I don't have to like a book to read well!. I think I'm the exception rather than the norm, though!. It seems that most people, like you, have a hard time reading books they don't feel interested in!. You're definitely not alone!. If you have a hard time sticking with a book, it will probably help if you find books that interest you and can hold your interest!. For high school and college literature classes I was always required to read books that were old fashioned and it was tough to understand or I'd end up reading the same sentence over and over again!. Sometimes it helped to go to the library and check out the spark notes of that book to get a better understanding of the story, so you don't end up falling asleep!Www@QuestionHome@Com I'm with you! I like to be interested in a story, and then I'm eager to read it!. You are not unusual!. The way to become a better reader is to keep reading!. I think it's great that you are trying so hard!. Your English will get better, and your grammar too!. Most story writers are pretty good, but if you aren't interested in the subject of a book, it just doesn't catch you!. When you say you feel alone, is that good, like you are a part of the story!? Or is it bad, like you are the only one not understanding!? Either way, you will find some books you really like, and maybe you will catch the reading fever!. Don't give up!. I am a voracious reader, I love to read, but give me a book that does not hold my attention or is not about a subject that interests me and I can't read it!. I usually give a book 100 pages before I reject it!.
