Question: Would this be ok to do in a story!.!.!.!.!?
Would it be ok to take some kind of mythical creature, then make up your own based on it!? As in you use things from that creature to make your own, then slightly mention the original creature in the story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most people who read mythology will be able to determine through your story what mythical creature yours most resembles, however there is nothing wrong with mentioning it in your story or to go so far as to make your creature the predecessor to the myth or the next generation of!.
There are plenty of stories based on winged horses like pegasus, and evil women like Medusa, there are also stories of Pandora done and redone again!. The fates, the furies, demi-gods, demons, Lucifer particularly has been done and done again!. The chimera, the titans, the gorgons, the cyclops all of them have have been done and redone and expanded on!.

yeah! im using the mythical creature my self in my own book, they are up for grabs, look at narnia!. he used em all!
