Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: here's my theory!. since book one is definitely more of a kids book, i think that parents reading the books to their kids just kinda got into them and it spiraled out of control from there!. they are really easy to read, and appeal to a lot of different audiences, and i haven't met one person who actually enjoyed to read in general that didn't enjoy these books!. plus there's a lot of character and plot development so you really want to keep reading them once you start, just to see what happens!. i think they're actually very well written, and don't mind giving jkr my money!. :DWww@QuestionHome@Com Everyone loves the hero's journey, it's why Star Wars and Lord of the Rings are soooo popular!. It's one of American's favorite stories!. I think people raved over them so much because kids started reading again!. When I was in elementary school, there were only a few of us able to read "at grade level" and just me that loved books!. Adults went crazy for a series that their kids WANTED to read - I love that she made reading so popular again!. And they're well written books!. She is a great author!. And everyone loves the hero's journey!. :) Www@QuestionHome@Com My personal opinion is that the Harry Potter books can relate to some people such as Harry's poor living enviroment, and losing loved ones!. The books hook people into buying them because you want to make sure Harry lives, and if he will ever defeat Lord Voldemort!. JKR created a whole new universe that attracts people of all ages and the books just get you hooked!. All the characters are relatable and realistic!.
