Outlines are key!.
If you've heard of writer's block, you know it's not pleasant!. It's not a great feeling when you've invested so much time and heart into a story to find that the plot ends up being useless in the end!. Although most beginning writers dread the word outline, its always good to have a plan on where you're going!. With outlines, you can plan ahead for twists without everything having to be spur-of-the-moment!. You can also tell before hand whether it's going to work out for you in the end!. If you come up with a flawed plot, its much easier to work on it before hand than to figure it out with a half finished plot nagging at you!. A great deal of writers drop their stories entirely because writer's block saps away their motivation!.

A first draft is, seriously, a first draft!.
Don't worry about perfectionism when you're first starting out!. It'll slow down your progress and disrupt the flow of words!. Just keep trying to finish it, and you'll be very satisfied in the end!.

Define 'beginning'!.
Some writers find that the very beginning of a novel is just too hard! If you're having trouble getting started, try writing in the middle of a book where the action is!. Beginnings are much easier to stay on track when you know exactly where they are going!.

It's a secret!.
Alright, so if you intend on getting it published, keep your ideas to yourself (mostly)!. This means don't just go randomly handing out your manuscript to random people to edit!. Firstly, you don't know if you can rely on their editing skills!. Secondly, inexperienced writers often try to take ideas because they're too lazy to come up with their own!. Don't let your ideas be taken!. Give your book to someone you can trust to be both honest and truthful!.

Keep trying!.
Writing a novel (or anything else) is a pretty daunting task!. It can take many tries before one finally works out for you!. The point is, don't give up!. You can always take a break from a story, or work on another one while you're at it!.

I'm sure there's countless more advice out there!. So much that I could go ranting about for an entire book!. And some people actually do!. Which is why you should check out a writing book from the library and have a look at actual published authors and their own advice!. Good luck!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Show your writings to as many people as possible: family, friends - and people at school, who you don′t actually know very well!.

Ask them what they think and never defend your work against their criticism!. Ask them, why they don′t like certain aspects of your stories!.

The most important thing is to read as many books as possible, magazines etc!.!.

Books on techncial aspects of writing are nice but may lead to confusion for a would-be-writer: spelling and punctuation are not that important for an author!. Good language and storytelling are!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Practice, Practice, Practice!.

If you want to write just do it and share what you are writing for criticism!.

Now if you want to get published, that is a different story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Write every day!.

Read every day!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Read 'Eats(,) Shoots and Leaves'!. I guarantee you will learn something new about proper punctuation!. And that is so vital, I can't even put it into words!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
