Question: Should I underline the title of a play!?
I'm writing a "play report" as my instructor has put it, and we are using the MLA format!. No title page is required but should I underline 'On Golden Pond' at the top of my report!? or do it like I just did!? Or should I italicize!? I have my Little Brown Book, which is helpful, I'm just not certain about the beginning of the report!. I just decided to go back to college at 30 and am a tad bit rusty!. also, it has to be 3-5 pages long and I'm not sure where he is going with it!. Any ideas!? Please help! thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The rule of thumb (whatever that means) for underlining/ italicizing is this: Anything big enough to stand on its own is underlined/ italicized!. Anything that is part of something else is in quotes!.
Like the album Metro Station would be underlined, but the song "Kelsey" would be in quotes!. Or, Eragon would be underlined because it's a novel, but the first chapter "Shade of Fear" would be in quotes!.
The title of the whole play On Golden Pond would be underlined, but an act or scene (like "Scene Two") would be in quotes!. Typically in MLA for papers you do not use italics, but only underlining!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you're typing, italicize, if you're hand-writing, underline!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
