I don't think so!. Besides I think it's great that you would include something like that so parents can talk to their kids about it!. That's an important topic and the best young adult novels include important topics like that to generate discussion!. There are lots of young adult novels that discuss violence like that, I think the point is you make it less descriptive and more about the story and the characters reactions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not at all!.

Many teenage and young adult books deal with very gritty and mature themes, for example abuse, sex, pregnancy, relationships, drugs!.!.!.

Domestic violence would probably be mild in comparison to a lot of teen and young adult books!. The important thing is to keep the portrayal of it real and do your research; good dialogue and well developed narration is also important in tackling difficult subjects!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends!. If the child decides he wants to take revenge on his father then it wont really be for teenagers!. They might adopt that sort of behaviour!. If the child was constantly a victim to their outbursts then it should be ok!. That way you can stick with the theme of sympathy rather than insanity!.

It's funny because I'm actually writing a novel about the same thing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No I don't think so it something thats its real and its happening everyday I think that in a novel you can hide anything the more detail the better it keeps you wanting to get to the end of the book Jackie Collings I like her books and she doesn't hide any detail and sometimes it gets explicit and I love it I want to know what happend next so Good Luck on your Novel!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
