Question: Can you recommend me a Hercule Poirot(Agatha Christie) novel!?
I already own Evil Under the Sun, Death On the Nile and Cards On the Table so please don't recommend these books!. What are some good Hercule Poirot books to read!?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I love Agatha Christie (her books, that is)!
Personally, I prefer her stories that are neither Poirot or Miss Marple, but these ones are still good!. Murder on the Orient Express has a very good reputation, as well as the Murder of Roger Ackroyd!. I haven't read these yet, though, the plot of both of them have been spoilt by some (evil) people!. Hopefully in forty years I will have forgotten what has happened and can read them without knowing what will happen!. The Mysterious Affair at Styles is okay, and Curtain ranks about the same, but these two are notable books because they are both Poirot's first and last appearances!. The first Poirot book I read was Five Little Pigs which surprised me so much in the end because I didn't expect to be blown away so much by the conclusion!. It was good, but that may just be because it was my first!. Now, after reading several of Agatha Christie's books, I can start to identify, even though I try to avoid, the most unlikely character, and therefore the perpetrator of the crime, which is a pity!. Murder on the Links is also another good Poirot book!. Murder in Mesopotamia was also excellent, not featuring the traditional setting and utterly baffling me right to the very end!.
Hope this helps :-)

P!.S!. Regarding the above person's answer, And Then There Were None is an excellent book, but not one featuring Poirot, if that's what you want!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The three you own are all really good ones!. One of my very favourites is 'Hercule Poirot's christmas' which is an excellent story with very good characters!. 'Death in the Clouds' is another one I am very fond of!. 'The ABC Murders' has a very ingenious plot and good characters too!. 'Murder in Mesopotamia' is set on an archaeological dig, and has some interesting characers, at least one of whom seems to have been based on a character Christie knew herself from archaeological digs!. 'Appointment with Death' is another one with an archeological background, it is set in the ancient city of Petra, in Jordan!. 'Mrs McGinty's Dead' is very entertaining, with some interesting characters, and Ariadne Oliver, who appeared in 'Cards on the Table' also features in this book!.

Although it is not a Poirot book, you might also like 'Towards Zero' which features Superintendant Battle, who was also in 'Cards on the Table'!. It's a very good story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
