Question: How is it possible that the painting of Dorian Gray is able to change while he himself remains young!?
Is there some supernatural force at work!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Yes!. Dorian makes a wish one day that he could remain as young and handsome as he was the day the painting was finished, while the painting grew old!.
Dorian wanted to keep his looks because he was vain and narcissistic!. As the story progresses, you see that Dorian loses his grip on reality and becomes immoral!.
The book is a novel, magic can happen in novels!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read Dorian Grey last year in school!. If i remember correctly at one point in the novel while Basil is painting Dorian he makes a wish (and sort of thinks to himself) to stay young while the painting bears his marks of age and sin!. And my teacher never told my class there was a supernatural force at work!. I think it had more to do with Dorian's guilty conscience!.

Try cliffs notes or spark notes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The author never really explained it but allowed people to use their imaginations!. I sort of figured he made a pact with the devil!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
