Question: Twilight Series!.!.!. Suitable For Fellas!?
I'm a bloke in my mid-30's who loves reading!.

Loved Harry Potter, loved His Dark Materials, love fantasy generally, love horror!.

I've read a fair few Anne Rice books, but I found them a bit slow and they didn't really grip me!.

Now, huge amount of hype about this Twilight series, and a phenomenal amount of questions about it on here and I may be wrong, but most of the hype and the questions comes from females and I have no idea how old anyone is!.

Money is a bit tight so I can't just go and buy them!. I'm very busy during the day so I can't get to the library either!.

I don't think I am being sexist at all (but who knows, it's not intentional), but I don't think I would enjoy them if they teenage romance novels!.

So, do you think I will enjoy Twilight!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
My husband is around the same age of you, and his tastes are similar to those you listed!. He really got into the Harry Potter books, and he is a fan of Dan Brown (DaVinci Code, etc) and Dale Brown!. He has read tons of stuff in all different genres, and after I read the first few pages of Twilight!.!.!.!.I immediately knew he would hate it!.

I don't think you would like it either as it is basically just a teenage love story with vampires and werewolves!. Nothing really exiciting, very basic and simple writing!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, you probably won't!.

I went out and bought the whole series after witnessing the hype here on Y!A, but I don't see why everyone thinks they're so good!. There wasn't anything special about them apart from the unbelievable characters!. If you're not a hopeless fan girl "in love" with Edward Cullen, you probably won't like it!.

Another user on this site once gave me some good advice- don't trust book reviews that are written all in capitals!. This is often the case with Twilight!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

compared to harry potter and his dark materials the writing style is no where near the same!. i think it's aimed more at young teenage girls as the plot leaves a lot to be desired!. As a female i was curious because of all the hype and read them, but didn't like them!. maybe you should read one and see what you think!. you may like them as everyone has different tastes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, I don't think so!. I know you are mature enough not to stoop down to the level of these mindless fangurls!. Twilight is a sappy, crappy novel!. It can summed up in a few sentences!. Vampire meets girl!. Vampire and girl fall in love!. Vampire and girl have sex!. Vampire and girl have happy ending!. See!? There is no depth in this book!. The protagonist is also irritating!. I'd advise you not to waste your money since things are pretty tight these days!.

In my personal opinion (I've read the Twilight series) I think that you won't really enjoy them that much!.!.!. although you might have loved Harry Potter, and love general fantasy, I wouldn't think you'd like Twilight and follow-ups much!.

The Twilight series are actually aimed at an teenage audience, I mean, you don't find a lot of adults reading books about werewolves, vampires, and immortal people with an 18-year-old girl stuck in between!. Plus, as you've pointed out, they're 'teenage romance novels'!. Which is sort of what they are!.

However! The Twilight series are pretty good (I have to say I'm absorbed into it) but if I put it into your position and possible perspective I would say no, you wouldn't enjoy it that much!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Erm!.!.
Well!.!.
It's Written From A Female Point Of View!.
So I'm Not Sure!.
It Depends!.
Most Likely Not!.
But You Won't Know Unless You Read It [:
I Recommend It To Anyone!.
It's My Favourite Book [:

And My Friend Sarah Said (xD):
it does have a main essence of romance, but the trauma and action intertwined with it is enough to suffice!. i seriously can not STAND romance novels!. at all!. so trust me, it gets rough!. especially in the 3rd book, which is my favorite!. so if you enjoyed hp, you should enjoy that!.and yes, the series is currently through a females point of view, but stephenie meyer is thinking about writing some of the stuff from the males point of view

I enjoyed them but they are definitely more romance than fantasy!. I think the plot of each book so far has been better than the previous one but still they mostly revolve around teen relationships!. That doesn't mean they're not good, but if you're a fan of epic Fantasy or even just HP type Fantasy, you may find them a bit thin or one-track!. However, Meyer is bringing out another book which is her first book, only written from the guy's point of view!. I plan to read it when it comes out and you may find it interesting to read it and maybe compare it to Twilight - decide whether she's got the right idea about what goes on in a guy's mind!

Happy reading :PWww@QuestionHome@Com
