If you're looking for something more along the lines of young-adult fiction, the "Inkworld" series (first book titled "Inkheart") by Cornelia Funke, the "His Dark Materials" series (first book titled "The Golden Compass" as well as "Northern Lights") by Philip Pullman, and the "Pendragon" series (first book titled "The Merchant of Death) by D!.J!. MacHale are all very entertaining!.

Some other enjoyable series include the "Ender's Game" series by Orson Scott Card (Sci-Fi), "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams (Comedy/Sci-Fi) and "The Vampire Chronicles" by Anne Rice (Vampires, lol)!.

also, if you're looking for something shorter and light-hearted, I would recommend the "The Cat Who!.!.!." series by Lillian Jackson Braun!. It's a murder-mystery series including nearly thirty books, the first of which is titled "The Cat Who Could Read Backwards"!.

I recommend Darkmans by Nicola Barker!. It was an impulse buy for me, and I really enjoyed it!. The story is very chaotic in style (it reminded me of channel flicking), and involves drug dealers, a chiropodist and the deranged ghost of an evil, 500 year old jester!.!.!.
