Question: What are some of the themes in Pride and Prejudice!? [10 points]!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
okay, well, here are some of the key themes:

pride - well, obviously!. the whole book is mainly cenetered about this theme, in a lot of different aspects; how mrs!.bennet reacts to a lot of things, how lizzi rejects mr darcy's first proposal, but mostly how, at the start of the book, darcy said he didnt want to dance with lizzi because he said she wasnt good looking enough for him!. that fact is ironic because if he hadn't had a load of pride at the start then they wouldnt be together!.

prejudice - darcy and a lot of other poeple are prejudiced against the bennets because they are not as rich as a lot of other people!. lizzi was prejudiced against darcy because he said she wasnt good looking enough for him!. charles's sisters (the one jane likes) are prejudiced against both the bennet sisters for reasons of their own!.

love and marraige - mr and mrs bennets marraige was because mr bennet fell for mrs bennet when she was young because she was beautfiul!. charlotte and mr collins were married because mr!. collins needed a wife and charlotte wanted someone who could provide for her finacially!. lydia and mr wickham eloped and got married, and lydia still believed them to be happy, but you can tell that they will not be in the future!. these are seen as unsuccesful marraiges!. the succesful ones are jane and bingley and lizi and darcy!. they both love each other very much!.

status - the fact that the whole idea of conveince was worked into the marraiges shows this!. mr!.collins is very eager to please for anyone above his status, and snobby to anyone else!. darcy's aunt expects him to marry her daughter because they are both good for status!.

family and sisterhood - the relationship of jane and lizzi!. the relationship of lizzi and charlotte!. the fact that there is no relationship between lizzi and her mother, and how mrs bennet is more interested in her daughetrs when they are married, and that her main priorities in life are to get them married!.

money - it shows how a lot of people want money or need money or will do a lot for money, and how the whole status was based upon money!. it may seem like this makes the book shallow but austen also shows how this can be overlooked because of the succesful marraige of very rich dacry and lower status lizzi!.

wow!. hope that helped!Www@QuestionHome@Com
