Not Harry Potter, although maybe similar in ideas!. Not Twilight, although I guess vampire books are alright!.
I’ve read some of the Charmed Books and liked the TV series of that so anything like that would be good!. I’ve also read the Mediator by Meg Cabot and would like any books similar to them!. In the cheap classics section of your local bookshop (Wordsworth Clasics etc) you will find the Complete M R James - a collection of fabulously good ghost tales!. All for only a pound or two! The very, very best for you are the "Watch" series by Sergei Lukyanenko!. Night Watch, Day Watch and Twilight Watch are all available and are absolutely wonderful, as good as it ever gets - trust me and give yourself a treat! Set in modern day Moscow where the forces of light battle with the forces of darkness, wizards, witches, shapeshifters, werewolves, vampires, the works - all under the noses of the ordinary population!.
