why did enkidu and gilgamesh go fight+ kill humbaba!?

why enkidu/gilgamesh didnt spare humbaba even though he pled for his life!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've not read the epic but I've heard the basic story before!.
From what I understand they go to kill Humbaba because he is a powerful demon and it will bring them glory if they vanquish him!.

After they find and fight Humbaba he begs for his life!. Gilgamesh was going to spare him but Enkidu became angry and convinces Gilgamesh to kill him!. Before they can, Humbaba curses them both, and then Enkidu cuts off his head!.

You probably need more detail in your answer if it's homework!. But if it's homework you should have read the epic yourself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
