Question: Anybody know the title of this book !? !?

About 8 years ago i read a book about a white panther/cougar/jaguar i can't remember and it was like from the 1950's and i can't remember the title of it !. I looked everywhere on-line!. It was about a white panther/cougar/jaguar that didn't fit in and it was set in a jungle and in the end he got captured by some hunter !. I'm just curious because it's been bugging me all day long since i can't remember!. And it was a thick book not like a kid book !.
