Up until now I've been fond of the third person omniscient narrative so that I can describe setting as well as jump from character to character without missing a beat!.
As I have begun reading Chick Lit I have found that those authors tend to use first person and the work becomes that much funnier in that as a reader I feel in the characters head and I understand her little mannarisms, asides and jokes, even when her mind gets off track I'm there with her!.
I decided I wanted to take a stab at it and turned out it isn't so bad!. I sometimes forget I'm writing in first and have to go back and weed out the omniscient things and re-work it so that they are first person observations with guessing and maybe's but all in all when I read the first chapter of the piece in a critique group they thought I did pretty good on my first attempt!.
Answering the questions on here also helps me to hone my writing and keep my mind fresh and my typing skills up to par!. Sometimes I write in a third person voice leaving my personal perspective until the end and in other cases I use only my experience to answer!. And despite using the first person perspective which I thought was going to be harder because I can't readily tell what the other persons in the story are thinking but ended up liking the challange of finding other ways to convey the story!.

I usually use a third person narrative just because you can see more aspects of the story!. I did use first person once just because i was focusing in on only one character and it was really about a journey that he took cross country!. So, there were characters he would meet along the way, but he was definatley the main character!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends on the book; if I think it needs more focus on the main character (and just one main character), I'll write it in first person, but if I think it should have more focus on descriptions of surroundings and stuff like that and have more than one main character, I'll write in third person!. I do use first person more often, though, because I like to get connected to my characters more!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I like third person better bc its easier to explain a certain kind of detail with it, but first person can make it easier to figure out who the main character it!. But funny, right now I'm working on 2 different novels, One is in first person, the other is in third :P

umm!.!.!. it depends i like to write a lot, but i like to switch it up!. none of the books i write ever sound the same, but i like to use 1st a lot and also 3rd barley ever 2nd!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Although I can write in third person limited, I'm at my best in first person!. I've experimented with second (but just once), and avoid omniscient completely, since it's not marketable!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Second person is a never, ever with me!. First person, occasionally and same with third!. I switch from third to first!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

1st person is going to be a funnier story, third will be better set!. i like to use first!. 10 points!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
