In the fairy tale why does rumpelstiltskin demand the queen child!? Was he trying to protect the child!? Did he want an heir!? Or did he want to do something evil to him, like eating him!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In a poem of Anne Sexton she writes that the dwarf says no child will ever call me papa!. When he goes to claim the child he says he has become a papa and wanted a living thing to call his own!. In other words, as you suggested he did want an heir!.

I'm guessing that you've read the story and you already know how/when he asked for the child and are just wondering his reasons for asking for the child, correct!? The exact reason is never mentioned, at least not in this story!. You have to!.!.!. make an educated guess!. In folklore and myth creatures like Rumpelstiltskin desire human children for many reasons!. It can be a play on the changeling stories!.!.!.a fairy child exchanged for a human child because the fae races rarely breed!. Sometimes they'll take the human child and raise them as their own, sometimes after time, if the child is raised in fairy land they'll basically become fae themselves!. Sometimes the human children are taken to be servants!. Sometimes as the children who are taken age they are married off into the fae community to help with their fertility problem!.
