I distinctly remember always borrowing Tintin and Asterix comic books from the library with my brothers when I was about 4 or 5!. There is a gap!.!.!. and I remember Charlotte's Web in about Yr 3, The Farseer Triology by Robin Hobb and Magician by Raymond E!. Feist in the same year or maybe the next one after that (which made me 9)!. Love that book!.!.!.

The only reason I ever read those whoppers (The Farseer Triology was spread over about 2 years) was because my much elder brother read them then dumped them onto me so he could save space!. I supposed he was the one that was responsible for developing my extreme love of reading!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Everything lol!.
But I really liked the Magic Tree House series in first grade!.
I didn't spend too much time on picture books, to be honest with you!. I started reading when I was four, and by the time I was in kindergarten I was reading those really thin chapter books with big fonts and small words!.
In first grade I was reading Magic Tree House and Junie B!. Jones!.
After that I just pretty much read anything I could get my hands on!. =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

The first books I remember reading (other than things like Spot Goes To School and The Owl That Was Afraid Of The Dark) were Enid Blyton books!. After that it was Famous Five, Secret Seven and Hardy Boys!. Then around age 9 or 10 I got into Steven King and James Herbert!.
When at secondary school I lost interest in reading for pleasure because of all the books I had to read for school, most of which I didn't like (Hardy's Far From The Madding Crowd was one I particularly disliked; it's really not my kind of book), though I did enjoy one or two, Lord Of The Flies for instance!.
I soon got back in to reading when I became an adult, and now I mainly enjoy epic fantasy sagas!.

Oh yeah, and I just remembered a series of books I read around the same time as Famous Five etc!. They were by Willard Price and always called (something eg volcano, jungle!.!.!.) Adventure, and the main characters were Hal and Roger Hunt!. Wow I had forgotten about them for a long time!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My favorite childhood books were written by Lenora Mattingly Weber (preferably the Beanie Malone series)!. I also enjoyed the Pippi Longstockings books!. For my mystery fix, I enjoyed Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys!.

My nieces and nephews prefer the Harry Potter series and also the Lemony Snicket books!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I had a huge collection of Enid Blyton - all politically in correct now!
I liked fairy stories, Mrs Pepperpot, The Silver Sword, Swallows and Amazons, My Naughty Little Sister, The Dolls House by Rummer Godden, which they have just re-printed, so just had to get a copy again!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I loved stories about other girls, like 'Little Women', 'Anne of Green Gables', 'What Katy Did', etc etc!. My favourite was 'Jane Eyre!. Went through a Blyton phase with the Secret Seven and the Famous Five, but being class-conscious from an early age, soon found all that a bit cringe-worthy! As a teen, I relished all the naughty stuff of the time like 'Peyton Place' and the novels of D H Lawrence!. In my mid-teens, I got into Collete and Zola as I loved the French lifestyle and culture!. Then I went all Irish with Oscar Wilde and Edna O' Brien [ back to other girls again!]Www@QuestionHome@Com

I first read Junie B!. Jones, when I was in first grade!. And then I read The Magic Tree House in second and third grade, and in fourth grade and fifth grade, I read Animal Ark!. And in sixth grade I started reading single books, not series!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
