Question: Best ending for my story!? Heroe wins or fails!?
Description: Five friends develop a deep bond of friendship, loyalty, and trust while facing many overwhelming obstacles in the face of adversity!. Joined together by basketball, they decide to enter a basketball tournament in hopes of winning the championship!. Numerous off-court obstacles threaten to ruin this cinderella story!.

Ok, big question: Do they lose the championship but grow from their experiences and learn that sometimes life can be unfair, or do they win in glorious fashion and still grow from their experiences!? They way I have it now is they lose but learn there is more to it than winning, overcoming obstacles, better prepared for life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would say let them lose and learn!.!.I say this because most typical stories have a happy ending!. From this the audience can learn a moral lesson: instead of living their life with regret, they can finally move on and be a better person!. I think you should add a twist to your story, and make the audience believe that the team is going to win and make them lose!. Surprise the audience because it has more of a dramatic effect!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your instincts are good!. The story isn't really about who wins or loses the game; the real victory is something deeper!. Someone overcomes their immaturity and reaches out to help one of his friends, or something like that!. Figure out what the real meaning of your story is, and then you'll know whether their actually winning or losing the championship supports your real meaning better!. Good luck!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

make it they lose
stories like that always have a happy
ending make your different from the others
you can have them fail and mabey try again next tourniment or fail learn from there mistakes which makes them even closer friends and prepared for life
and that gives out a good message
"there is more to life than winning"

Who are you writing for!? If it's for kids, then have them lose!. Children should learn as soon as possible that winning isn't everything, it is possible to lose, and losing isn't the end of the world!. If you're writing for adults or teens, then do whatever feels more right to you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That is why I dont write stories about sports!. Movies used to always make the protagonist win, then they all caught on and now everyone gets second place!.
The result is a bunch of cliches!. Why dont you have them get disqualified for something minor!? Or one of the team dies and in mourning, they attend the funeral rather than the game!.!.!.
just ideas!. I'm not a sports person in the first place, so maybe I'm not the best one to answer!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
