I honestly am at a loss for words!. I can't find any hints that could determine that site's legitimacy, but I am a little doubtful!.!.!.

First of all, I am a big fan of J!.R!.R!. Tolkien's works, and I have read and enjoyed Rowling's, but I certainly don't see the possibility of a Harry Potter/LOTR crossover!. How, exactly, is Harry going to make it to Middle-earth, or those of Middle-earth travel to England!? Moreover, Christopher Tolkien (J!.R!.R!. Tolkien's son) is very true to his father's works, and I really don't see him making a book that ties his father's works in with another series!. And I really don't see Christopher Tolkien changing the end of his father's famous trilogy - would Christopher Tolkien really go so far as to let a book claim that Sauron wasn't really defeated when the Ring was destroyed, and that the story isn't finished!? And on Rowling's part, I thought she made it clear that she wanted to be done with Harry's tales, other than her upcoming encyclopedia!.

And looking at that actual article, it really doesn't sound legitimate!. Dumbledore and Gandalf are the oldest of friends!? I don't think so!. And am I suppose to assume that Voldemort was resurrected in order to attack Hogwarts once again!? I don't find that possible!. The list could go on!.!.!.

A HP/LOTR crossover would honestly just be very strange!.!.!.

Sorry but there's no way this is for real!. It's a joke!.

I know it comes from a "news" site but I think you'll find that not only can you not find the purported "auction" of the "napkin" but that site is the only one with such news!. If this were real it would be ALL over Tolkien sites everywhere!. I've been a LOTR fan for a LONG time and know all the major Tolkien news sites - it's not on any of them!.
also, the whole "napkin" bit is clearly just making fun of the way that Rowling wrote her HP books, the article is meant to be funny, not serious!.

The Tolkien estate is far too snobby (I mean this in a good way!.!.!. sort of) to collaborate with Rowling on anything!. They'd never defile Middle Earth that way!. It will not happen!.
