Question: Is it true that you can extract 10% from a book without infringing the copyright!?

I want to write a screenplay based on a celebrity who died in 1990!. Several books have been written about his life and I would like to use some of the information contained in these books!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The 10% rule is a common misconception!. One can not just grab sections from a book and use it as your own writing, no matter how small the percentage!.

While you may not get into many difficulties if you use a few lines and cite the author, you cannot just take whole passages from books without permission!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think you can copy up to 10% for your own research purposes without being in breach of copyright!. Plagiarism is different!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
