Question: !.!.!.did Animal Farm completely surprise anyone else!?
No, this isn't a question asking about homework or an essay, I'm truly interested!.
Of course, I read this for school, summer reading!. I heard it was extremely political, but I really wasn't expecting much, and as I read it I still expected nothing!.
Until I got to the end and read the very last sentence!.

The last chapter completely threw me off guard, and made me sit there and think, silently, for a good ten minutes!.
It's fairly obvious to see where the story is going, but in a way I was expecting someone to rebel and slaughter Napoleon!.

I mean, I honestly thought it was just a terribly boring book until I finished it!. Now I really appreciate it, and I was just reading how this is all about Russian history!.

It's amazing!.!.!.and slightly trippy!.

What do you think of it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
It is a really excellent book & makes the point that absolute power corrupts absolutely better than almost any book I can think of!.

The last scene where the "leader" pigs are playing cards with humans & the other animals looking in the window can no longer tell the difference between them just floored me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I read animal farm when I decided to read 1984 - the book that I borrowed from library contained both of these stories!. First one was animal farm, so I started with it!.

The story is interesting, really, politically accurate [I live in a post soviet country]!. And yet I moved on with 1984, and since the very first sentence of 1984, animal farm started to seem as a beautiful kind of political fairy tale for teenagers!. 1984 is 1000 better, try it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that Animal Farm is an extremely well written book, by one of the greatest writers of all time, George Orwell, it surprised me too, although not to much, since I saw the cartoon first!. It really shows in a clever way how Communism just doesn't work, I thought the saying, 'All animals are equal, but some animals are equal-er than others' It was really clever and well put, George did a wonderful job!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
