Question: Does a story come to you or do you have to find/write it!?
What I mean is that I have one character, and I have a very unclear idea in my head!.!.!.but I don't know how to develop it from there!.

To all you writers, does the story (plot, climax, ending) usually come to you, or do you have to find it!? And how do you do that!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You have a character, That's great!. Develop this character!. Talk to him!. Have a chat!. How old is he/she!? What are their likes and dislikes!? Perhaps they tell you a secret!. Or they have a peculiar character trait!. Develop this person, and you'll be amazed at how a story can present itself!.
Good luck

Well I have some sort of rough idea of what I want to do and then as I begin writing it develops!. As I start writing, new ideas come and are extended, so pretty much I have to write in order for the idea/story to develop (actually, reading that over it's pretty obvious that I need to write for a story to develop, lol)!.
To sum up, I'm not really struck with inspiration!. I need to write a paragraph and then the inspiration will appear!.
I don't know if that makes sense but that's how it happens for me!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Usually when I write something new, I know either the beginning, middle, or end, but never all three!. It takes a while to figure out how the full story will play out!. Some writers will begin writing immediately and they find that the plot fills in the blanks on its own!. But many writers find it useful to write out a timeline or some kind of summary so they're clear on where the story is headed!. Try some freewriting first to see what options you can come up with!.

I always have to have a plan, or I stop my story in the middle and lose my flow because I don't know what to write next!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

It just pops into my head to be honest!. If i try too hard and chase it, it usually isn't the best story!. but when it comes to me they r like a gift!. and i use em by writing them down on paper really fast before another one comes along and i forget the previous one!.lol
But then when the story and the whole things come to me based on the story i start to think of what i want my character to be in order to get where i want it to end!. Based on my story i come up with the character's personality and the place and all of that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i believe if you have something for example a character already popped in your head you gatta search for it!. a writer has alotttttttt of rough drafts and a lot of mistakes!. so try this technique get this one character that you have found and put personalities into him/her!.!.!. like make him/her a nerd or a popular kid, a nice guy, a bully, a parent, a teacher, a drug addict, a loner, and put this personality guy/girl into a scene like a love scene, sports scene, action, mystery, murder!.!.!.!. try to create a story with each see if anything attracts you to it then you got a story : )Www@QuestionHome@Com

I usually have some idea come into my head and if I write it down and then try to work over it, it tends to develop from there!. Other times I have to put the idea to the side and not really focus on it for awhile until I'm ready to sit down and write!. But usually the idea develops as I write the story!. Half the time I don't know what's going to happen until it happens, kind of like real life I guess!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Typically, the initial idea that starts me on the story will just come to me!. Usually right before I fall asleep, lol!.
Then I have to work on planning everything out based on that spark of inspiration!. ^^
It's pretty random which part comes to me, but it almost always focuses heavily on character!.!.!. because I like characters!. ^_^

I hope that helps somewhat!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Mine just come to me, although often when I begin I have only a sketchy idea of the ending and the basic outline, so writing the story is as big a journey for me as it is for my characters!.

But then, that's just me!. Some people have to do a lot of decision making and planning to get their plot right!. Everyone works differently; there are no hard and fast ways to writing a plot!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Okay, you've got a character!.!.!. Snag a plot! Snatch a storyline! Think about it when your about to go to sleep!. You might dream something up!. That's what I did!.!.!. And I posted it on here, so if you want to see if you think my tactic works or not!.!.!. here's the u!.r!.l to a very short part of my story!.!.!. You don't have to read it, but!.!.!. just in case!.!.!.
