excellent books, really adds depth and substance to a story being authentic to how a charecter would react in those times!. The books are in groups related n certain times although you can read them out of order with no problems!. Theres the Grail series which is about a archer!. Starbuck chronicles about the american ciil war!. The Sharpe series which is by far the largest, the Warlord chronicles which is all vikings and saxons!.
A good one to start with would be possibly Sharpes Trafalgar as this battle is well known and would give an insight and be quite familiar!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i'm a big fan of his books about richard sharpe during the napoleonic wars!. if you like historical fiction, this is a good series - lots of action & good historical detail & interesting characters!.

i also liked "gallows thief" a detective story set in regency london!.

i got to meet him briefly a few months ago & he's a very nice guy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I enjoyed several of the Sharpe series!. Some were a bit slow, but most were very exciting!. I was also very impressed with his research!. His subject knowledge really shines through without getting too technical or dull!. *coughTomClancy!cough*Www@QuestionHome@Com

I fell in love with the Arthur Trilogy by Bernard Cornwall, Winter King, Enemy of God and Excalibur!. So much so I have them all on audio too!.
