When I'm hopelessly dead locked and attacked by the writer's fungus, also known as writer's block, I will pull another project out and work on it for a while, sometimes that triggers different ideas for me!. If that doesn't work I'll think about my character, hunt up some music I think that person would listen to, listen to a song once or twice, pull up word pad and just do a free write to see what comes out!.

If I'm stuck on my plot I'll start the "What if game!." I'll write down questions about the main points and give them alternate endings to see how that would change the skeleton of my plot!.
If that doesn't work I'll delve deeper into my characters trying to figure out why characters have their fears, habits and why they like the things they do and I'll try to see if that can some how fit into the story!.

If the block isn't too bad, rereading your previously written work helps get you going!. If your still dead in the water, pull out some of your favorite books and read some of the scenes that stick in your head!. Dissect it!. Ask yourself "Why does this stick out for me so much!?"

If all else fails look for writer resources and books!. I've learned there isn't any harm in creating a trove of writing references!. I use the "How to write great fiction" books from writers digest and an older one "Writing In Flow" By Susan Perry!. Basically it's a book that gets you into the writing state of mind!. You know the fleeting moments that you hardly remember when your pounding out so much work you hardly realize how long you've been at the computer!?

Analyze your plot, have a look at your characters, read your favorite books!. It's funny how the smallest things can help ward off the evil writers block!.

I always get writer's block!. I found some things that help me!. I just let the story go for a moment, a week, or even a month, and let the ideas come to me!.

Look at random objects around the house!. You can create so many ideas from that; for instance, a picture frame, the rug, or even mirrors!. Once I saw my pink bathroom towel and a whole storyline just laid itself out in my head in less than a minute!. I even created a story based on the candy "kisses!."

Look up various words in the dictionary and actually read the definitions, and try to see how you can incorporate that word or definition into your story!.

Reread your story and try to think of alternative ways of writing the details, so more ideas can flow!. Edit anything and everything you have to!. I am still editing a story of mine that I have worked on for over three years, as I am always changing it around, making it better!.

I even use the magazine to think of ideas!. I look at the embarassing section and use other people's trauma and create my own!. I hate to admit this, but I've written TONS of good stories from just doing that!.

Surf around the net!. I sometimes use the Yahoo search engine and type in "writer's block" and check out some of the websites!. A good site is http://www!.thewriterssite!.com/direct_pag!.!.!.

Use your favorite quote somewhere in the story!. Or let the quote inspire you to new ideas!.

Be sure to keep an open mind at all times as inspiration is everywhere!

Hope these ideas help and good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, if you already have your main subject/plot, then you just have to let your characters speak for themselves!. Once you get the book started, it usually starts coming out easier!. If you're stuck, take a break and come back later!. That's what I always do!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Let random things inspire you!. It can be anything from a song on the radio to a conversation with someone to a random inanimate object!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
