Question: What happened during the Life of Pi when they got lost on that island!?

I really loved the book, but that part was just so weird and farfetched that I have no idea how to interpret it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Recall Pi "follows" three faiths, Muslim, Christian and Islam!. Green is an Islamic color, so the algae island could be seen as Pi's struggle with relying on that particular faith!.!.!.!.just as the tiger is a Muslim symbol and the sea a Christian one!. I suppose one could also read an ecological theme - water, plant and animal life and Pi finding his balance between them!.

As for what the island actually is, I have to agree with what others have said that this may all be Pi's imagination blocking the more brutal parts of his tale!. There again , there really are types of carnivorous algae!.!.!.so the choice is yours!. Did Pi make it up, or was it real!?

They got off the island, he and the tiger!. the island itself killed things that stayed on it, at one point he heard the tiger yelp, the island was trying to kill the tiger, that is why he got back in the boat!. It was something in the vegetation and trees that claimed lives of everything that inhabited the island, remember the skeletons Pi saw in the trees!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

because i believe there are two theories:

1!. Pi hallucinated and the tiger was never on the boat with him

They got to the island, but it was carnivorous so they had to leave or the island would eat them That's why Pi found the tooth in the tree!. it ate a person or animal that stayed on it too long!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
