Question: Has anyone else either read Philip Roth or heard of him!?
He is the most decorated American writer and no one seems to know of him, at least on this message board!. All I hear about is a woman (who I have never in my life heard of on radio or tv) that wrote some fantasy books!. Twilight and Red Dawn!. Has anyone heard of or read Philip Roth, the master of American literature!?

I've read "American Pastoral", and have been meaning to get into some of his earlier works as well!. He's fantastic, although I gravitate more towards Saul Bellow in terms of the Jewish-American literary tradition!.
However, to be fair, I've read much more Bellow than Roth!.

I agree with you, it's a damned shame that most people are so unaware of Philip Roth!. He will undoubtedly be recognized as one of the greatest American writers in history, and I doubt that a Nobel Prize will be long in coming!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, he wrote (among many other works) Portnoy's Complaint and a short story called "The Conversion of the Jews!." I prefer Bernard Malamud, but I certainly acknowledge that Roth is major!. Maybe his name will turn up here morfe often when teachers start assigning his works more often!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have, and have read many of his books!. It is quite sad that more people do not know who he is!.
The Great American Novel is hilarious- one of my favorite books!. Portnoy's Complaint is another one of my favorites!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
