Question: For people who have read the book What is the What by Dave Eggers

Do we ever find out what is the what!?
I read the book and the last mention of it,I think, was when Valentino's father told Valentino to go to America and find the "What"!?
But then I read the rest and I don't know what is the what!? Maybe I skipped a page of something!. Maybe I didn't, but if the title is What is the What shouldn't we be told or clued in on what is the what!? I know this question is pretty confusing!. Thank you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The What was the unknown that, according to the legend, mankind could have traded for the Earth, nature, etc!. but, intelligently, decided not to, instead preferring to stick to what is known!.!.!.it was vague and never really revealed what the What could possibly have been!.
