Lovecraft's stories of eldritch horror and the Old Gods have a niche all their drippingly awful own in horror literature!. No one wrote like Lovecraft, few have ever come close!.

King's stories and novels, drawing heavily on popular culture, sci & monster movies, and modern psychology, have managed to hit the nerve of horror fiction right where it lives, with the result that King is not only the most popular writer of horror fiction today, but also one of the most popular novelists in the last hundred years or so!.

Having said that, I'll answer your question by saying that there's room at the top of the horror hill for more than one author, even for more than three or four, for that matter!. Of the two, while King is the more skillful; Lovecraft is the master of the particular type of horror tale he created!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
