Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I'd go with Doublethink and Technology used as controlling elements!. I think that the theme of technology would be simple to write on as it becomes more and more prevalent in our lives allowing the media and authorities more and more control over our information, whereabouts and thoughts!. Doublethink is an enabler that allows the messages and information fed to us to co-exist with contradictory ideas with no understanding of falsehood or questioning for truth!. They are both just as important in terms of the theme of control and both getting scarily close to our reality!.

Some food for thought when you're writing the journals:

Technology: "1984 reveals that technology, which is generally perceived as working toward moral good, can also facilitate the most diabolical evil!." - sparknotes

Doublethink: "the ability to believe that black is white, and more, to know that black is white, and to forget that one has ever believed the contrary!. This demands a continuous alteration of the past!.!.!. Doublethink is basically the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them!." - wikipedia!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
