Need modern american authors??

Question: Need modern american authors!?!?

i have to do a book report on a novel by any american author but i dont want one thats too old and i cant understand that old-timey dialect and big vocabulary!. any ideas!?!?!?!? thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Dean Koontz's Odd Thomas books are pretty awesome, Christopher Moore is freaking hilarious, Richard Matheson's I Am Legend (which is little to nothing like the movie)!. All Americans, all modern, don't think they have an overabundance of big vocabulary!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I suggest any novel by Ray Bradbury!. Fahrenheit 451 is probably the most obvious choice for a book report, but my personal favorites are Dandelion Wine and Something Wicked This Way Comes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
