Anne Rice is a really good author too, if you're really into the whole vampire thing, but I didn't start reading her books until I was 15 or so!. If you like the fantasy genre, really that's what started it all!. Certainly there is Harry Potter, although I'm sure you've read those already!. There is a series by Louise Rennison which are diaries of a girl they are really funny!. I also read another diary book by Joanne Nadin which is similar it's called My so-called life!. Mwah Mwah by Chloe Rayban Shamanka by Jeanne Willis this has a kind of riddle/puzzle in it and I really enjoyed this book!. Or what about books by Jacqueline Wilson I haven't read these but I expect they're quite good!. I know some people love series two, The Demontata, but I prefer series one, The Saga of Darren Shan, or The Cirque du Freak Series, as it's called in America!. Another author from around here is Eoin Colfer!. He wrote Artemis Fowl, but he also wrote some other books, which I think are better than Artemis Fowl, to be honest!.
