J!.K!. rowling is a master at doing this!. In all her books you feel the emotions of the characters!.
Another one is Frank Herbert!. Read the original Dune!. He describes the characters' thoughts and feelings in such vivid detail!.

Authors invoke such emotion by putting themselves in the position of the character and describing how they would feel if they were in that situation in the best way they can!. That's how I do it anyway :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I feel the emotions of my character!. I get an adrenallen (sorry for the spelling) rush when things get intence in a book, I feel an emotional shock wave when something very bad or unexspected happens (sometimes it is soo strong I have to put the book down), and I feel like crying when something sad happens!. I have only cried reading a few books but they were really emotional!. The only chapter book to make me cry was "Where the Red Fern Grows" (the other book was a graphic novel)!. I can feel the emotions because the author's words are soo strong that I feel them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Glass Menagerie is a play!. It's an incredibly simple idea, and it's one that if written badly, no one would care!. I almost cried when the unicorn got broken!.
It's because the characters are so believable- the painfully shy girl, the pushy mother, her brother who is torn between his family and leaving to try and get a job he really wants!.!.!.

Sometimes simple small disasters can shatter an individual even more than death- remember that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
