I first read Jane Eyre and I think it is amazing book, but as for Wuthering heights I just don't get it!. What good people find in it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I Love Jane Eyre too and I also have never been able to appreciate Wuthering Heights properly!. I had first thought of studying it in the place of Persuasion but IO had to give up because I was never able to grasp it!. However my friends who studied it told me it was one of the most marvellous books they had ever read, but they were few!. I believe that the force of the love between Heathcliff and Catherine is the main twist of the novel!. Theirs was a love that could survive the test of time!. They loved each other while they did everything to hurt each other, by marrying people whom they both hate!. It seems almost as though they had a passion for each other that could never be appeased in this life, in this world!. It transcends death but leaves them miserable!. It's something like that I guess!.

I think some people find Heathcliff and Catherine fascinating characters, even though they are so flawed!. Their love for each other is really their only redeeming feature, and I think therein lies the fascination for some people!.

some of the comments made about emily Bronte in the comment above are incorrect!. She did live in the area in which Wuthering Heights is set, the house she based Wuthering heights on is only a short distance from Haworth, where she lived!.

And she did travel, she and her sister Charlotte went to school in Brussels, which was quite a journey in those days!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The author was a country girl who had no friends and did not travel!. She did not live in the area where the book is set!. She wrote a terrific novel with little life experience and died a year later!. This is a great accomplishment and the novel is still used today for research!. The main characters are nasty narcissists, girly-men and brutes!.!.!.just like in life!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I first read Jane Eyre when I was about 9 or 10 and still read it at 48, I never got into Wuthering Heights until I read it last year!. I still had trouble with it as it just didn't flow for me!. It was a good book but there was something missing from it but I don't know what!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with the previous posts!. Jane Eyre works, but Wuthering Heights is terribly flawed!. The relationship between Cathy and Heathcliffe is pathological!. Heathcliffe himself has to be one of the ugliest characters in literature!. How could anyone call that insanity love!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah, I love Jane Eyre!.
But I don't really see what the fuss is abouts in regards to Wuthering Heights!.
