Question: What would my character read!?
I have a character in my book that is a bit shy and has always been the least popular girl in school!. She is currently heading off to college!. Another point that is important in answering this question is the fact that she is a closet extravert!. She would really like to be the opposite of what she is!. No one knows this, but I just wanted to use a book as a hint to it!. I know some readers won't get it, but it is a minor detail anyway!. So, what kinds of books would this character read!? I need titles and authors!. Preferably nothing too new!. ThanksWww@QuestionHome@Com

This is a rather intriguing question and I'd love to help!. Unfortunately, in trying to come up with a few answers I realized "intriguing" also meant "more challenging than I had originally anticipated!." Haha oh well!. These might not be what you had in mind, but I tried to be creative :]

The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain - standard classic about a boy with nothing who gets to become a prince!. Could imply character would like to live a life a little more opulent or extravagent than her own!.

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett - another classic about a sickly, mildly unpleasant girl who finds a key to the Secret Garden, as well the key to her own transformation!.

Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka - chosen more so for its name than the actual literary content!. The main character is transformed to a bug in his sleep and the book is about how his family deals and deserts him!.

Oh and in my opinion, I really wouldn't pick any books by Austen, L!.M!. Montgomery, or the Bronte sisters!. These are the gold standard of books read by shy, unpopular girls!. Pick something a little quirky-er and stranger if you want to give a hint to the girl beneath the shy exterior!.

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
