Possibly you are thinking of the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer!.

They have been compared to the Harry Potter books in terms of popualrity, but I think the range they are likely to appeal to is probably much narrower!. The Twilight books are told from the point of view of a teeange girl and are largely concerned with her romantic involvement with a vampire, and later also with a werewolf!. The characters are not as interesting and diverse as the characters in harry Potter, and although there is some action in the books, the emphasis is largely on romance!. Nor is there any of the humour that you find in the Harry Potter books!.

Whether it be characterization, plot development, writing style, sheer popularity, or sales numbers, the Harry Potter series has proven itself to be superior, and the refernences to Meyer (author of the 'Twilight' series) as being the 'next Rowling' are nothing more than publicity that serves as both false advertisement and a means to attempt garnering a still larger fanbase!.

Twilight is nothing like Harry Potter!. It is at best hack fan fiction--the work of a very poor author!. It's fanbase is 11-16 year old fangirls and a very scary group of housewives who spent months stalking the movie set!. And contrary to what you have been told, it is not a small group who have a problem with the last book Breaking Dawn!. Amazon has a forum called Return It Don't Burn It and thousands of books have been returned in protest!. The last book is revolting!. I don't see how you can compare Harry Potter to a pregnant woman vomiting fountains of blood while having morning sickness or delivering her baby by having her husband chew through her uterus and amniotic sac!. Stay away from it!. According to my son who read the first few chapters of Twilight, it isn't a guy thing anyway!. It's about a Mary Sue klutzy high school girl who somehow lands the hunkiest guy in the school who just happens to be a vampire!. Pax-CWww@QuestionHome@Com

It has been compared to Harry Potter, which is why I picked it up last week!. There are currently four books out, I read two of them in three days!.

But, they are nothing like Harry Potter!. I enjoyed them, but they are not really that "good" to be honest!. They are very easy to read, and they may catch your interest as they did mine!. But the mythology of these books is nothing compared to HP!. They are more about love and romance, and happen to involve vampires!. I wouldn't even describe them as a vampire series!.

also, while Harry Potter seems to appeal to both men and women of nearly any age, Twilight is really directed toward women in their teens and up!. I've yet to talk to a guy that read them!. I wouldn't recommend them to my boyfriend, who got me into Harry Potter!. Not the same audience at all!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Twilight!. It's really good, although I don't think it's anything like Harry Potter in any way!. In a way, it is much more modern than Harry Potter and is deeper and more mysterious and romantic!. Harry Potter is more fun though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
