Sure, you can sell your idea--if you can find a buyer!.

Most writers have more ideas than they can find time to write, and no need for other ideas!.

What I might do, in your place, is jot down that idea in a computer file and return to it in the future, to use it myself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't believe they can be, at least not legally!. You can't copyright an idea, only the finished expression of the idea!. On the message board on Michael Crichton's website, people would constantly show up claiming they had a great idea for his next book!. The administrator said that for legal reasons, he doesn't look at any ideas submitted to him!. The administrator also said that Dr!. Crichton has plenty of his own ideas and doesn't want to see any other people's ideas!. I think the same thing applies to most other professional writers!.

As a writing teacher of mine said, ideas aren't that valuable by themselves!. They're only valuable if someone can turn them into a finished story, book or film script!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes book ideas can be sold!. Some authors actually invite aspiring writers to co-write with them!. Some publishing houses have positions for idea men!.

However, I believe that you should attempt to write it yourself!. The exercise will be fun and even if you never finish you may give yourself discipline!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
