Please do not suggest to me the Twilight series thankyou!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice!.

These are the BEST vampire novels you will EVER read in your entire life!. They're full of darkness, mystery, romance, friendship, history and SOOOO MUCH MORE!

Here is a list of the series in order!.!.

- Interview with the Vampire
- The Vampire Lestat
- Queen of the Damned
- Tale of the Body Theif
- Memnoch the Devil
- The Vampire Armand
- Merrick
- Blood and Gold
- Blackwood Farm
- Blood CanticleWww@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with Rotten Tomato, the vampire chronicles is by far the best vampire series out there!.

Keep in mind, this is for older readers!. I don't know how old you are, but anne rice novels contain a lot of adult themes!. A lot more mature themes than say, the twilight series!.

The essentials, IMHO, are interview w/a vampire (is a decent movie too), the vampire lastat (my favorite), queen of the damned (which was a crappy movie), the tale of the body thief (second favorite) and memnoch the devil!. I've read the others, but I feel like that they went downhill after the vampire armand!.

The House of Night series by PC Cast (1st book = Marked)

Bram Stoker's Dracula -- A tad scary, but there is adventure, romance, friendship, madness and strong women!.

Not a vampire book per se, but Wicked Lovely and Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr are very well-written fantasy/folklore books!.

i've recommended this series to a lot of people!. its called the mortal instruments series and is perfect if you are suffering from twilight withdrawal!. its romantic and involves shadow hunters mostly in the 1st book, then vampires and werewolves in the second!. i wasn't looking for any really amazing books after the twilight series but i REALLY enjoyed these!. they are seriously worth reading!!!!!!

1st book; City of Bones
2nd book; City of Ashes
3rd book; City of Glass (due out)
