Question: How would you describe Nellys role in Wuthering Heights, in detail!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Nelly's role is that of a narrator!. She tells the tenant all she knows about Wuthering Heights, and without her, he (and consequently, ourselves) would never know Heathcliffs story!.

Nelly's other role is to keep Catherine (and Cathy) in line!. She is like Catherine's conscience, in a way!. For instance, when Catherine accepted Mr!. Linton, Nelly was there to tell her why she was wrong!. Nelly is, in a way, the moral compass of the story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

nelly is the narrator for the greater part of the book!.
you can kind of call her the hidden video camera into what happens between everyone else!.
because, as much as she's in it, the book isn't about HER!.
so yea, narrator!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

She's the narrator!. She was the housekeeper in both the Earnshaw household and the Linton household, and was a first-person witness to the majority of the action in the story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
