Question: CALLING ALL TWILIGHTERS!!!!!
First off, i adore the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer!. However i always wonder what the meaning is behind the pictures on the covers of the books!. For the first book its two hands holding an apple!. I heard that its because"the forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest" or something along those lines!. If any one could tell me the 411 about the other covers pictures and if the one about the apple has any truth it would rock!!!! TWILIGHT IS SO COOL!!!!!! Bella Edward 4 eternity!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Yes, the two hands holding an apple!.does mean "the forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest!." It's like a metaphor!. Like Adem and Eve!. It is so tempting for them to eat the fruit but they know they are not allowed!. With Bella and Edward, it's like the same thing!. It is so tempting for Bella to be with Edward, but she really shouldn't be around him because he can get dangerous!.

New Moon: there isn"t a true meaning for the tulip!.Stephenie Meyer had no say in the cover!. but the title itself has a meaning!. the new moon is the darkest time in the lunar cycle!. so it represents the darkest time in Bella's life since Edward left

Eclipse: the tearing ribbon represents Bella's choice!. Bella has to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob!. she can't decide therefore the ribbon is tearing!.

Breaking Dawn: I think that the red pawn in the back represents Bella as a human because she blushes and turns red!. And the white one in the front is Bella as a vampire, pale, strong and durable!.

Hope I helped!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Stephenie only had control over the first cover!. You are right, "the forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest" was a tagline for Twilight!. To her, she says that the apple says "choice!." There's Adam and Eve in the Bible, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and look and Paris and the Golden apple in Greek Mythology, that started off a ten year war that we call the Trojan War!. She said she doesn't know what the other covers mean, because Twilight was more and exception than a rule!. Most of the time authors don't have any control over certain things like covers!. That's up to the publishers!. However, the flower on the cover of New Moon is a ruffled tulip!. The ribbon on Eclipse is just a ribbon!. And the chess piece in Breaking Dawn!? It's a queen, so it most likely stands for Bella!. But I have no proof of this!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

alrightey, the first book's apple cover [twilight] is yeah what you said: the forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest!. Twilight is temptation, the forbidden fruit (think of the apple in the Adam and Eve story)!.

for the second book [new moon] actually is the darkest time of night so it represents the time bella was saddest!. so the tulip on it would be bella tearing apart and depressed!. stephenie meyer said she had nothing to do with the cover!. her publishers chose it!.

As for Eclipse, SM has said, "The ribbon for me is about the idea of you're trying to break away from your old life!. And it's never a clean cut!. There's always some of those threads that are so hard to break and for me that's Bella thinking that she can just walk away from her human life and it's really not that simple!."

oh and breaking dawn - random guess - the red pawn is Bella before she's turned into a vamp, the white piece is afterwards!. I doubt the queen piece (white) represents either of the boys!. Or it could be that she is the queen and the red pawn is blood!. which is kind of a foreshadowing thing so you would think bella gets turned into a vampire!. i dont know!. something like that!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The cover of twilight is the forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest !.!. meaning Bella should not get involved with Edward because it is forbidden unless Bella is a vampire as well as Edward !.

The cover of new moon is a white rose covers in blood because in the first chapter Bella starts bleeding and he blood drips all over the white roses at the Cullen house put there for her birthday !.

The meaning for the New Moon cover is unknown!. Stephenie Meyer has no idea what it stands for!.
I think the cover for Eclipse is something like Bella being torn apart between Edward and Jacob!.
I'm not exactly sure about Breaking Dawn (I don't think anyone is), but I think the red pawn stands for human Bella and the white queen is her as a vampire!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your right on the first book, The second and third really don't have any signifigance and the fourth I think ties in to the third how Alice and Edward played chess!. If you want more information heres the link to what Stephenie Meyer said about them well starting at the Twilight homepage http://www!.stepheniemeyer!.com/twilight!.h!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, New Moon, she just liked the flower!. The ribbon on Eclipse means that Bella is trying to let go of her human life!. It is hard to do so it looks like it is tearing!. The fourth one, no clue!. She hasn't said!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I was once a VERY obsessive Twilight fan!. But now, I despise the series so much because of SMeyer!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
