The amount of words is totally up to you, I believe, but I've also read that the minimum is 50,000, so I honestly don't know!. The type of themes that I enjoy reading are ones that deal with problems that teens face such as sexual identity, drug usage, friends, love, abusive parents, ect!. There is no 'right age' to begin writing, as long as you have a good grasp on the language you are writing in!.

It's useful to study some language, obviously, before attempting to write a novel!. I'm fourteen, and after teaching myself a second language (Swedish), I learnt a LOT about the English language, and how it works, ect!. I learnt how to manipulate the sentence structure to change a sentence's meaning and intensity, many idioms, new phrases, proper grammar (little things such as who vs whom, what vs which, ect are quite important), and more!. So, if I were you, I'd learn advanced language skills online or in school, and then attempt to write!.

It's good to get character sheets down and to write out a strong plot so you aren't sitting there making stuff up as you go!. Granted, nothing is wrong with making stuff up as you go, but you will be a lot happier if you plot it out beforehand!. Of course, it all depends on your personal tastes!.

You should try to craft a character through what he or she says, does, the way he or she treats other people, ect so the readers can get a good grasp on what type of person the character is!. I'm writing my first novel at the moment, and by the tenth or so chapter, most of my readers had a great concept as to what type of people the main characters were!. This may be a bit slow, but it's better late than never!.

A concept I have learnt recently is to "show, don't tell" readers how someone or something is!. A reader should be able to tell what a person is like by what he or she says and does!.

also, as I stated before, it would help to learn literary terms such as the climax of a story, protagonist, the falling/rising action of the story, ect!. Luckily, my 7th grade English teacher taught us all about literature/reading analysis, so I didn't have to do much pre-studying on that when I wanted to start writing!. I don't know what education you have, though, so you can be the judge of that!.

Enjoy writing! It's an extremely educational concept in its own!Www@QuestionHome@Com

There's no hard rule about how long a novel should be!. But as a general guide it's usually upwards of 50,000 words!. Anything less is generally considered a novella!.

The right age to begin writing is as early as possible!. It requires practise!. Even someone with talent is going to need to get some practise in to hone in on their writing skills!.

No one can tell you what to write about, you'll have to come up with an idea on your own!.

If you want to be a good writer, than read; reading is the best way to improve your vocabulary and to learn to recognise good literature!. It will also help you find your own style and tone!.

Some big tips:

Write your first draft with your heart!. Write your second draft with your head!.

Learn to use grammar and spelling!. It's difficult to respect a writer who can't use spellcheck!.

Learn to be very critical of your work; a good writer is someone who can write, and then discard most of it as rubbish, picking out the good bits!. You have to be very hard on yourself to write well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, I love reading novels and I think being yourself and giving your best shot in writing a novel is the best thing to do!. also regarding the age, i don; think you should be younger than this or younger than that!.!.!.
If you want to be an expert or a pro you should study Literature or other studies regarding novel writings or things related to it!.!.!.

If you want to check the goodness or credibility of your novel have it read by people you know or writers you know!.!.let them give their opinions be open for it and if there are suggestions think over it!.!.!.

I hope i helped you out!.!.
goodluck
i hope i can read it if you have finished it!.!.!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, it is a darn good question and not an easy one to answer!.

We all have our own personal vibration and subjects that we become passionate about no matter what the circumstances are and that is a very good indication as to the kind of themes you should pick!.

Once you dig into something you are really fired up about, the storylines unfold almost naturally without effort!. That is another very good indicator that you are on your way to striking a gold vein!.

Age!? Absolutely not important!. Heck, you could be 7 and still write a story for children that can score a mega hit and earn hundreds of thousands in royalties, it is a non issue!. I would be looking at what you can do to build confidence!.

What did the trick for me was amateur theatre and martial arts (Judo and Tae Kwando), both did wonders to "anchor" me to my own self esteem and self doubt is only a dim memory!.!.!.

Sure, structuring your work is important:

1) Write the short story
2) Expand on that
3) Don't be afraid to ask proof readers to criticise your trials

Make a habit of carrying a small notebook and a pencil on you at all times, good ideas have the tendency to pop up at the weirdest of moments and places!.

I hit paydirt once like that with an idea that suddenly was there in my mind while I was queuing at a fast food for a hamburger, you never know!.

When you get published, let me know, I'd like to read it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course a novel is fiction!. You will need to develop a plot first!. You will want to choose your characters and a novel can be at least 300 pages long or a little less!. Begin by sketching out how you want things to play out!. Take one step at a time, and just start writing-- don't be concerned about perfection-- rough draft it first!. When you have finished each chapter, go on to the next one until the story is finished!. Then re-read it and begin the revisions!. Next have some of your friends and teachers critique it!. Take suggestions that are valid, but do not let them turn your story around!. Have the book edited and then send it to the publishers!. You can self publish (pay all the fees and have your book online)!. If you are not a famous author, you can send a copy to libraries and advertise, have a local book signing, etc!.
Later, as you write more and become famous, publishers will come to you and want to publish your book!. They will pay you royalties!. Hopefully you will fulfill this desire to write-- Be Blessed Today-- Toni D!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

well it's really all up to you!. it's your novel, it's your idea, and they are your words!. personally, i'd rather write a novel that came from me, and my heart and have it read by 5 people, than write a novel written for the public and have it read by 5 million!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
