How long should a story be?

Question: How long should a story be!?

Right, I am writing a story!. I am a bit worried that it might end up somewhere in between being a short story and being a novel!. What would you suggest the word boundaries are!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should write it so that it sounds finished!. It doesn't matter what the length is!. If you edit it into a short story, then important parts will be missing and it won't feel complete!. And if you add extra words and stretch it out into a novel, then it will seem too wordy and drawn out!.

You are the author, write it for yourself, so that it is the perfect length for you, and it will be great, no matter how many words or pages you have!.

also, if you feel self conscious about it, write three "novellas" and put them all together into one book!.

The area between a short story and a novel is called a novella!. There's absolutely nothing wrong with writing one, as the book should be long enough to tell the story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

however long it takes to do the job!. usually a book is 150-250 pages!. but you could have an 800 page book if thats what it took to tell the storyWww@QuestionHome@Com
