Question: Is it legal to have lyrics or quotes in a novel without permission!?
I know it's legal to have labelled names and companies, as long as you aren't saying anything bad about them!. And I also heard it's legal to put song names and book titles into your original print as well!.

But is it legal to add lyrics or quotes and stuff like that into a novel!?
If it isn't, is it okay to just put like a few sentences of the song, maybe just the first two lines into your novel!?

Example: I haven't even referred to the title, the artist, or the album name, but I said the character was playing some music, and all he remembers hearing from the track was, "Brothers and sisters put this record down/Take my advice 'cause we are bad news"!. (That's Fall Out Boy's song "Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued)!.

Is that enough to be considered illegal!? Would I need full permission to even put one sentence of a song into my novel!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
